Mayor Newell visited us and spoke about many upcoming projects for the surrounding area. Our president, Art Hall is shown presenting a small gift as a thank you.
Once again we have chosen to help an organization close to our hearts. The gifts you see here will help a family in our area have Christmas; one that they wouldn't have without assistance.
Our president, Art Hall spoke to the Ripley Rotary club and presented them with the golden gavel. Unfortunately, the quality of this picture is low, but I'm sure you all get the idea.
Our joint tounament with the Parkersburg Rotary is over and was a huge success! We don't have final figures yet, but it looks as though we raised over $35,000. We are extremely happy with the results and very proud to offer a great service to the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Today we honored our President. Joe Oppe has led our club to many successful ventures this past year, and we thank him for his excellence in leadership. We look forward to another year with him at our side.
Today Tim Northrup presented the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department with a check from funds raised from our Spring Tennis Tornament. Also with us today was Jim Spanner to speak about the Parkersburg News and Sentinel.
Today our Rotary Club volunteered for the Red Cross ringing bells at our local K-Mart on Grand Central Avenue. We all had a blast and had a great time helping such a worthy cause. We braved the cold and came out still smiling after our shifts were over.
We were visited today by Rotary District 7530 Governor Rick Reese of Grafton WV. Governor Reese is a life-long resident of Taylor County and is serving a fourth term as County Magistrate, previously serving two terms as Sheriff. He reviewed Rotary history and presented information regarding Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio and establish clean water sources in all parts of the world. Governor Reese congratulated the club on its achievements over the years and stressed the importance of implementing more hands-on community projects, leaving a legacy of service and renewing a commitment to youth.
The Governor inducted Wood County Rotary’s newest member - Valerie Curtis of Personnel Temporary Services Inc. Governor Reese presented Wood County President Joe Oppe with the “Rotarian at Work” plaque signifying the Rotary motto “Service before Self”.
